The Mindfulness Spinner is launched

Have you ever felt like your days are so packed that you get no time to yourself? Or been so overwhelmed that you cannot decide what to do with that 5 minutes you suddenly have to yourself? Or perhaps you're doing fine but need a fun way to start taking care of yourself a little more?

If your answer any of these questions is yes, then this spinner is for you.

This Mindfulness Spinner was created during my first year of being a stay at home mum. At that time, I was struggling to look after myself while juggling an active baby and a home. I knew my partner felt the same, juggling work and baby. I wanted a way for us to take a quick breather, to start caring for ourselves again. After creating the first version of this spinner, though, I realised it could be useful to more people than parents alone. My schoolgoing self for one would have benefitted from this as I was often weighed down by the expectations placed upon me.

This web-based spinner's function is quite straightforward. Spin the wheel and let it decide what mindfulness activity you should do. It comes with eight presets: Read, Colouring, Doodle, Music, Walk, Stretch, Breathe and Journal. You can also customise the spinner with any activity of your choice.

Now I've found another use for my own spinner that excites me. A Dinner Spinner! One of the hardest things about being a stay at home mum is planning meals for my family. My mind goes blank and I spend hours on the internet scouring for recipes and inspiration. I've yet to put this into practice but the thought of changing the spinner options to meal ideas is tempting.

My partner on the other hand has found himself using it as online fidget spinner, much to my amusement.

I’d love to hear your feedback on it. What would you use it for? What improvements can I make to it?
